D.C. In December - Day 1 Adventure Continued…

Updated: Apr 17, 2019

The main portion of the museum is historical figures. It would be a really neat place to bring children to and in essence make the characters of our US history come alive. There are wax figures of important African American figures such as Sojourner Truth (a favorite of mine), Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Malcolm X to name a few. Of course there are plenty of presidents there, and each wax figure has it own name placard so you know who is who. In addition, there is a small section dedicated to famous people such as The Rock, Zac Efron, Beyonce, and Michael Jackson.

About halfway through the museum there is a section that is divided into the Oval Office, the Press Secretary stand, and a platform with Michelle and Barack Obama (mom & dad). At this section there is a photographer who will gladly take photos of you on your phone if you don't want to pay for a print copy from them. The way the museum is set up is that you can only go one route. You start at the entrance, and by the time you finish you’re on the other end where the gift shop is and the exit. In order to get into the wax museum you do have to pay. The admission charge is $23.27 per ticket, but we had purchased our Explorer Pass and chose to use it on this attraction during our trip. Afterwards, we wait it out for the next Hop On Hop Off bus, hit up a few more stops, and then make our way back to Union Station - where our whole trip began.

It has all of these older and elegant features preserved while still being

very modern. Union Station is everything. You can catch the subway train or a ride on Amtrak, eat food, shop at Pandora jewelry, and MUCH MORE. I would literally take a trip back to DC just to spend the day at Union Station exploring. While my mom and I were there we grabbed some much needed coffee from Starbucks and ate at a restaurant called: Roti Modern Mediterranean. The food was mainly healthy with gluten free options and other meat friendly options. I ordered a Pita Sandwich with steak, rice, and mixed vegetables. It’s a pretty decent portion size so you definitely get your money's worth.

And ladies and gentleman that completes day one! We were completely wiped but it was great all around.
